06.29.11 (LAS CRUCES) — Keeping a business open and watching it flourish can be difficult, especially during these rough economic times. One local man is finding success helping others add value to their property Uriel Marquez grew up watching and at times working along side his father on different welding projects and it didn’t surprise anyone when he wanted to open up his own business. “We went in on a bad time because the economy was coming down. It was not booming like it was use to, but I can’t complain,” he said. Four years later Marquez stays busy — helping families and even companies with his wrought iron designs. “Stuff that we do is like art. It’s pretty neat stuff that we can do,” said Marquez. His craftsmanship is carefully produced and placed pretty much anywhere on the property. “Gates, on the side, on the interior, exterior, you know front entry doors, fencing, apartments,” he adds. Marquez and his team meet with owners personally to come up with a design that best fits the home or business. “We draw it and we actually take a picture, on some of the cases we take a picture of their home and draw the gates on a special program that we have and incorporate the gate and the house so they can see what the house is going to look even before the work is already up,” he said. Much of his ornamental ironwork can be seen in cities from El Paso, Texas to Albuquerque, New Mexico and all the communities in between. “It makes me proud because anytime we drive through
